November 24th marks 10 months since the military aggression against Ukraine. Faced with the heroic resistance of brave Ukrainian men and women, the Russian soldiery compensates for daily humiliating defeats on the battlefield with heinous war crimes.
Civilians, including thousands of children, women, unarmed men and adults, are subjected to continuous and indiscriminate bombardment. The military and mercenary paramilitaries, armed to the teeth, frustrated by their own incompetence and cowardice, from the first hours of the invasion have been killing civilians, raping women and children, subjecting them to brutal torture, looting their homes, destroying infrastructure and stealing Ukrainian grain that it feeds not only Ukraine, but the whole world.
The genocidal war led by Russia, the denial of the Ukrainian nation, language and identity, the annexation of parts of the territory of the sovereign state of Ukraine and the systematic implementation of terror against the civilian population, completely collapse the international order. Wars of territorial conquest and the conversion of energy and food into weapons are now a reality for the world.
CIVIL is the first Macedonian organization and among the first in the world to condemn the Russian military aggression against Ukraine. And today, as every day since the beginning of the Russian aggression in Ukraine, CIVIL calls on all peaceful and humane people, intellectuals, editors, decision-makers and community leaders to condemn the military aggression with donations, messages and sharing of relevant information.
North Macedonia is part of the countries of the Western Balkans, where Russian propaganda has found fertile ground among certain ultra-nationalist and anti-Western structures and political groups. Misinformation and propaganda are everywhere, on social networks, in the media, in the actions of propagandists on the ground. It is extremely important for the Macedonian society to recognize them and oppose them. Everyone can also contribute to the fight against disinformation and hate speech campaigns.
And remember: The freedom of Ukraine means the freedom of Europe, of the world!
