CIVIL – Center for Freedom condemns the military aggression against Ukraine that started on February 24. The military operations carried out in the first hours of the full invasion against this country are sowing fear and terror among the civilian population with an obvious intention of turning the lives of the civilians into weapons of war.
The military act of the Russian Federation is completely unjustified. The world is witnessing an unprovoked attack against an independent, sovereign, peaceful and democratic country. The long-lasting occupation of part of Ukraine in 2014 and the launching of a total invasion in 2022 is a direct attack against freedom and democracy in the entire world.
THE WAR THAT PUTIN HAS LAUNCHED IS A WAR AGAINST HUMAN RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS OF THE RUSSIAN CITIZENS!
It’s not only about territories and resources, it’s not only about military targets. The fundamental human rights and freedoms of the civilians in Ukraine are being crushed. This horrible war – the proportions of which can be exceeded only by the absurdity and ambitions of one tyrant – crushes the human rights and freedoms of the whole world.
With the military aggression against Ukraine, opportunities for democratic development are destroyed, and the security, peace and welfare of the entire world are completely endangered. The war that Putin has launched is also a war against the human rights and freedoms of the Russian citizens.
FREEDOM AND PEACE IN UKRAINE MEAN FREEDOM AND PEACE FOR THE ENTIRE WORLD!
Therefore, CIVIL calls on the Russian citizens to stand up against the anti-democratic and militant regime of President Putin and to express their support for freedom of Ukraine, because that is also their freedom!
Now is the time when this regime should be stopped once and for all. Today, more than ever before, freedom and peace in Ukraine mean freedom and peace for the entire world. And that means freedom and peace for the citizens of Russia.
NO TO PUTIN, NO TO WAR AND YES TO FREEDOM, DEMOCRACY AND PEACE!
CIVIL, as a human rights organization sends out loud and unequivocal support and solidarity to all Ukrainian citizens and authorities in Kiev. The organization is at disposal to do everything possible to help in this difficult time for Ukraine and for the entire world. Furthermore, CIVIL is available to help all freedom-loving and peaceful people of Russia and calls on them to make a high patriotic and human act – to say NO to Putin, NO to the war and YES to freedom, democracy and peace!
THE DEMANDS FOR PEACE ARE A HIGH PATRIOTIC ACT!
The demands for a cessation of the military operation and for peace, the demands for responsibility for the human suffering are a high patriotic act, and not a treason, as the regime media in Russia are trying to portray. The sacrifice made by Russian peace activists is incomparable to the victims and suffering of the civilians. But, it is necessary.
STOP THE MILITANT DESPOT IN THE KREMLIN!
The freedom-loving Russian people today need to demand for Russian generals not to act against the freedom of a peaceful nation, to demand from the police not to act against the protestors. On the contrary, they should act in support of democracy, freedom and peace. That means that the highest target of the Russian army and police is not in Kiev now, but in Moscow. President Putin should have already long been held accountable for the violation of human rights in Russia. Now is the last chance for this to be done – to stop the militant despot in the Kremlin!
