“We will fight for freedom and we will win!”, said Kristina Henschen of the Platform of civil society organizations for global development “CONCORD”, at the Stockholm Civil Society Days (SCSD), an international event connecting all those actively working in or with civil society organizations involved in international development cooperation. CIVIL –Center for Freedom  is a participant at the event in Stockholm, upon the invitation of the International Civil Society Center with headquarters in Berlin, the partner organization Civicus who are the initiators of the global initiative Speak!

SCSD is co-organized by SIDA, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, and CONCORD Sweden, Platform of civil society organizations for global development.

“We will fight for freedom and we will win!”, said Kristina Henschen from CONCORD, at today’s opening of the Civil Society Days, which is taking place until September 22.

This year, the focus of SCSD 2017 is on shrinking civic space. The increased repression of civic freedoms and democratic space in many countries means that civil society, development cooperation and policy need to do more and be braver, and SCSD 2017 is the place to discuss how.

SCSD 2017 has the purpose of exchanging experiences and practices to inspire participants to make change happen. The focus is not on formulating the problem or showcasing glossy achievements, but on questioning old truths and exploring new strategies for action in development cooperation and policy.
