CIVIL is organizing a public event on the topic “Electoral reforms in the run-up to local elections: achievements and challenges”, today, June 23, 2021, starting at 1 pm, at the Park Residence Hotel (behind the city football stadium), Skopje. The event is expected to last 70 minutes.
At the beginning of the public event there will be a 10-minute presentation of the project “European Perspectives, the Next Level” and an announcement of CIVIL’s activities during the election process.
Immediately after the presentation follows a conference where we will talk about the changes in the Electoral Code, the constructiveness of political actors in reaching an agreement acceptable to all, electoral reforms in the context of changing the electoral model, achievements, expectations and recommendations, but also challenges in the context of local elections.
The conference will be attended by the Minister of Justice, Bojan Marichikj, Halil Snopce, MP and representative of the Alliance for Albanians, Vice President of the State Election Commission Ditmire Shehu, Boris Kondarko, member of the SEC, Arber Ademi, representative of the DUI party and Xhabir Deralla, representative of CIVIL. Boban Stojanoski, a member of the SEC, is also announced.
The event is part of the project “European Perspectives, the Next Level” implemented by CIVIL with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany. The project unites several components, one of which is “Local elections, monitoring and reporting; contribution to electoral reform.”
The event will be broadcast live on the Facebook page and on the video channel of CIVIL. The newsrooms can download the recording from CIVIL under the Creative Commons license (attribution and link), as well as the contents that will result from the event on the CIVIL media platform in Macedonian, Albanian and English.
