PRESS RELEASE, 24.09.2023
CIVIL is following the situation in Kosovo with concern, where escalation of the situation led to human casualties on September 24. Peace in Kosovo is a precondition for peace in the region, all stakeholders in the country, but also in the region and at the international level, have an obligation to contribute responsibly and calmly to peaceful and non-violent overcoming of conflict situations.
All stakeholders must make maximum efforts for an immediate cessation of armed violence and respect for laws, order and peace. Advantage must be given to dialogue and sustainable political solutions, for the good of all communities, the state, as well as the region overall.
CIVIL calls on Macedonian political leaders and institutions, the media, civil society organizations and all citizens to participate in the calls for peace and non-violence in neighboring Kosovo. Our country has both the credibility and position – to be a creator of peace and to offer solutions for peaceful and non-violent overcoming of conflicts.
CIVIL says that in such moments, it is especially important to pay attention to true and correct public informing, for facts to be checked with relevant sources and to avoid sensationalism in reporting.
