For the second year in a row, in conditions of a brutal and genocidal Russian military aggression against independent, democratic and peace-loving Ukraine, International Day of Peace is celebrated. The topic of the United Nations this year is “Actions for Peace: Our Ambitions for the #GlobalGoals”, which, in fact, doesn’t reflect the dark reality that the Kremlin has inflicted upon the world.
CIVIL – Center for Freedom calls on all citizens, its members, supporters, activists, volunteers, as well as civil society organizations, political entities, to join all peace-loving people around the world in celebrating International Day of Peace with calls for peace, but also justice in the world.
CIVIL calls for full withdrawal of the Russian military forces, down to the last soldier and mercenary, and then fully facing international justice for the destruction, war crimes and genocide it is carrying out against Ukraine.
On International Day of Peace, we must remind ourselves how easily peace can be disrupted and broken in the world and cause horrible destruction and suffering. The Russian aggression against Ukraine is destabilizing world peace and democracy through hybrid attacks, blackmail with energy and food, with fierce propaganda campaigns and disinformation. With this, the Kremlin is trying to hide the immense violence and the obvious intention to exterminate the Ukrainian nation, for which the propagandists in Russian state media openly and loudly talk about.
The military aggression against Ukraine, like all military and other conflicts anywhere around the world, imposes the need for uniting against the evil. Every person has the obligation to stand in defense of the right toa peaceful and dignified life in democratic and just societies where division, hatred, violence, fight for rule and power at the expense of human life and dignity will be rejected and strongly condemned. The perpetrators of crimesagainst humanity and the architects of evil, destruction and genocide must be brought to justice.
It is a human and civilizational obligation!
With strong support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian nation, CIVIL calls for uniting of the world in the efforts to put an end to the Russian aggression and to restore peace and stability of Ukraine. For the many lives lost to be the last to witness the horror and destruction that war brings about.
CIVIL is of the opinion that peace, freedom and equality are values that both the citizens of North Macedonia, and its democratic institutions, are aspiring to. All of us together need to value and promote those valuesevery day. By nurturing multiculturalism, as opposed to interethnic and other conflicts, promoting the commitments for European and civilizational values, as opposed to nationalist narratives, disinformation and propaganda, the fight for a democratic and just society will be won together.
CIVIL – Center for Freedom, since the establishment of the organization in1999, in its vision and mission, promotes peace and democracy, a world where people will live peacefully and in a dignified manner. In its foundations, the organization has uncompromisingly and entirely incorporated the commitments for a society in which human rights and freedoms will be fully respected, where the cult of weapons and violence will be overcome, and discrimination, inequality, hatred, prejudice, nationalism will be just a dark episode of the past.
