CIVIL FEST starts tomorrow, Monday, December 10, starting at 1.00 pm at the Youth Cultural Center. Eight speakers have been announced for the opening: Ambassador Samuel Zbogar, Chief of the EU Delegation, Uranija Pirovska, Executive Director of the Helsinki Committee, Irena Sterijovska, director and activist, Blagica Dimitrovska from Inkluziva, Koco Andonovski from LGBTI – Center for support, Petrit Saracini, National Coordinator for Culture, as well as Dehran Muratov and Xhabir Deralla from CIVIL.
CIVIL FEST is a two-day multimedia event with which International Human Rights Day, the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and 19 years of CIVIL’s existence will be marked. The rich program of CIVIL FEST includes a series of concert and DJ sets, multimedia exhibitions, performances, video projections, presentations, awarding ceremony for citizen journalism and much socializing and entertainment.
Immediately after the opening, at 1.40 pm, there will be a performance by the world champions, dancers with Down’s syndrome from the dance studio Dancers United MK , who this year won the World Championship in modern dances in Poland.
Dedicated to citizen journalism and activism in the name of freedom, justice and equality, the programme of CIVIL FEST includes a multimedia exhibition of photos titled #FreedomPhoto, which will start at 2.00 pm. The exhibition contains hundreds of photos that mark citizen journalism and human rights activism from the start of the project “Civic lenses”, 2015 until now.
#CivilSocietyTowers is a specific multimedia display of activism and civil society, which will start at 2.30 pm on the first day of the festival and will last until the next day. At 3.30 pm, video projections will start of a large number of video documentary films and stories from citizen journalists, as well as for CIVIL’s professional team.
From 5.00 to 7.00 pm, an afterwork DJ party will be held under the slogan Freedom Music (#FreedomMusic), with which International human Rights day and CIVIL’s 19th birthday will be marked.
On the second day of the festival, December 11, in the Youth Cultural Center, all the contents of the first day will continue. In addition, the programme also includes an awarding ceremony for citizen journalism starting at 12 noon, a workshop on citizen journalism from 1.00 to 4.00 pm, stage performance at 7.00 pm and a concert performance of three bands at 8.00 pm. In the meanwhile, the programme also includes DJ performances, as well as a kids corner for the youngest audience.
The festival is part of the project “Civic Lenses”, financed by National Endowment for Democracy.
