The City of Skopje will donate three million denars to earthquake relief efforts in Croatia – two million denars for the survivors in Petrinja and one million denars for the survivors in Zagreb, according to a press release from the Skopje Mayor’s office.
According to the release, the decision to donate to Petrinja and Zagreb was made at an emergency session held by the city council on Wednesday.
The amount of 3 million denars is what Skopje usually donates to cities in the aftermath of natural disasters, the release says.
During the emergency session, Mayor Petre Shilegov said the donation was a show of solidarity.
“Skopje is a city of solidarity,” Shilegov is quoted in the release as saying, “and we know what help means in the aftermath of such catastrophes.”
