The Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of North Macedonia, Anita Angelovska Bezhoska and the Governor of the Croatian National Bank, Boris Vujčić signed Tuesday a memorandum of cooperation which aims to enhance fruitful mutual cooperation and support in the interest of both institutions, but also the economies of the two countries.
Croatian National Bank Governor said that the cooperation between the two central banks has always been good, and that it has intensified since 2000. In particular, he said, it was intensified with Croatia’s entry into the EU and the country’s path to EU membership.
“Croatia supports North Macedonia to join the European Union as soon as possible. We do that on a political basis, but also through our activities as a central bank,” Vujčić said.
He added that the two banks have good cooperation and, if necessary, for matters that are important for the National Bank of North Macedonia and the Croatian National Bank.
The long-term and friendly cooperation is efficient. This was also shown in this pandemic crisis, Vujčić said, adding that through the Vienna Initiative, significant matters important for the countries participating in it were achieved during this period.
Governor Angelovska Bezhoska said that the Croatian National Bank is our important partner and supporter on country’s EU accession path.
“The best confirmation of our successful cooperation is the data from it, which unequivocally point to a strong partnership based on mutual respect,” Angelovska Bezhoska said at the press conference after the signing of the memorandum, which, as she assessed, will be another tool that will allow further enhancement of our cooperation.
She noted that the Croatian National Bank actively supported about 12 important projects in several areas that are important for central banking. The governor also said that it supports other regional and international initiatives, such as the Vienna Initiative, chaired by Vujčić, whereat Angelovska Bezhoska is a member of the Supervisory Board.
