The situation with covid-19 in schools is absolutely stable. The percentage of positive new cases on a daily basis ranges between 0,01 and 0,03, and the total number of active cases is about 0,3 percent of the total 255 thousand students who attend classes with physical presence, said the Minister of Education and Science Mila Carovska, adding that due to the stable situation the first scenario remains – physical presence and that the condition is constantly monitored.
If the Commission for Infectious Diseases still has different information and if something different happens, she said, the Ministry of Education and Science is ready to react and change the scenario, ie the teaching model. Until then, Carovska stressed, it is in the greatest interest of the students for the schools to be open.
Regarding vaccination, as last week, the Minister reiterated that about 75% of teachers are vaccinated, that it is almost twice the national average of vaccinated, and pointed out that there is no significant resistance among education staff who, like the public sector, will be covered by the measure proposed by the Commission for Infectious Diseases for mandatory vaccination or once a week submission of a negative PCR test.
– There is no significant resistance. Of course, the percentage of those who have suffered is above that percentage and I think that at the moment when the decisions are made, there will be a solution for everyone in the education system, Carovska added in a statement to the media after the promotion of the media literacy project. “Young people think.”
