We have to work on creating models that will help the textile and leather industries on the long run, and this can be achieved through technological advancement of the operating processes and for their products to be more competitive on the global market. We will work on this with the employers’ organization, unions, chambers and other associations in the coming period, said Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi on Wednesday.
“We are monitoring the situation with the pandemic and the economic crisis in the textile and leather sectors, but also all other sectors. The imperative is to come out of the crisis with the least possible consequences, meaning to keep jobs but also bring people back on the labor market. We are implementing the fifth set of anti-crisis measures and have already presented the sixth one. A seventh set will follow for some sectors, if necessary. We are contemplating, discussing and looking at opportunities to see how the next package would look like,” Deputy PM Bytyqi told reporters.
He reiterated that the Government would support all employers and all workers.
“We will be together in this crisis until we go out of it. We are already analyzing data from April and trends in various sectors, and we will promote a fresh package in May or June,” added Bytyqi.
He noted that the number of companies seeking support and the total number of employees covered by the financial support of salaries is going down.
