Bulgarian police have detained former Prime Minister of Bulgaria and GERB leader Boyko Borissov, Bulgarian media report citing party and government sources. According to the reports, also detained were former government officials Vladislav Goranov and Menda Stojanova news agency MIA informs.
Police officers are searching the homes of other senior former officials as well as members of the Bulgarian business community as part of a major operation underway across the country.
The operation is carried out with the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, the reports say. “No one is above the law,” wrote Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov in a Facebook post commenting on the news.
