“With the introduction of new tools for digital mass communication, the natural cyclical changes between conservative (right-wing) and progressive (left-wing) voices and political actors are disrupted. Conservative voices do not want to accept that after a while they should leave the stage of progressive voices. They believe that only their vote is legitimate and they are working to actively undermine anyone who thinks differently from them”, said Pavle Bogoevski at the CIVIL debate “Black propaganda against civil society“.
“Non-governmental organizations should not and must not do their job to deal with the political complexes of the party that is not satisfied with what they are saying.
Certain structures that politically profit from the shakiness of democracy and the democratic process, make the compromise socially unacceptable, i.e. to increase the polarization in the public discourse as much as possible. NGOs are most interested in these for-profit structures, so they are the first target. But NGOs are also the easiest target to attack. Political parties have clear defense mechanisms.
Progressives must realize that they cannot do it alone. Whatever we do within individual states will not be enough. Joint action of several key players and countries is needed in order to coordinate the fight against this socially harmful and anti-democratic discourse,” said Bogoevski.
