The Budget revision is a response to the crisis that could not be foreseen in the period when the 2022 Budget was developed. The revision includes cuts but also additions and re-prioritizing of funds, said Finance Minister Fatmir Besimi on Thursday, reports MIA.
“The revision provides a response to the crisis. We had to address all issues, including the additional funds used for the crisis management, measures for vulnerable groups, but also policies focused on maintaining growth. Expenses have risen significantly and the deficit has increased by EUR 150 million. The revision projects cuts of about Mden 13,4 billion (EUR 217,7 million) but also additions,” Minister Besimi told a joint press conference with EU Ambassador David Geer.
He expects a Parliament session on the Budget revision to take place in the coming days. All institutions will see cuts in the amount of 10 percent for unproductive expenses, namely goods and services, along with re-prioritization in the dynamics of projects’ realization.
Funds will rise in the sectors of social affairs and agriculture, along with EUR 76 million projected for anti-crisis measures.
