The Energy Commission has been convened for tomorrow, which according to all data will send a letter to us as a ministry, which we will forward to the Government. On Tuesday, the regular government session will consider the possibility of declaring a crisis situation in the energy sector, informed tonight the Minister of Economy, Kreshnik Bekteshi for the daily on TV Sitel.
“Declaring a state of energy crisis does not mean that there will be restrictions on electricity, such measures are not provided. “According to all the data we have at the moment, there is no problem with the electricity supply, the crisis is due to the large price shocks on the electricity exchanges, so we will ask the Government to declare an energy crisis at the next regular session,” he said.
According to him, the crisis situation in the energy sector will be declared so that the Government can directly inject funds from the budget for ESM and MEPSO to increase their liquidity.
– For that purpose, we made the changes in the Decree for declaring a state of crisis so that funds can be transferred to energy companies. The Ministry of Finance has provided about 100 million euros to be able to directly intervene in these two companies so that MEPSO can cover its debts, and ESM to provide coal for electricity production, said Minister Bekteshi.
The Minister emphasized that at the moment they are working on putting into operation all domestic capacities for production of electricity so that there are no price shocks.
“From domestic production, the production price of electricity is from 56 to 70 euros per megawatt hour, while the price of electricity on the stock exchanges is 200 euros per megawatt hour. “With the measures we are taking, we are taking care of the citizens and households and the small consumers so that there is no increase in the price of electricity,” said Bekteshi.
