The Government has decided to freeze the trade margins of basic food products in retail and wholesale, said Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi on Tuesday, transmits MIA.
“After consultations with the business community and in coordination with competent institutions, we have decided to freeze the trade margins of bread, sugar and sunflower oil to five percent, whereas the one for flour, pasta, rice, milk and eggs is limited to ten percent. The decision enters into force on Wednesday (June 15) and will be valid until to September 30,” Minister Bekteshi told a press conference.
According to him, the decision would limit the price hike in the coming period.
“The possible price rise in retail and wholesale will result from an increase of import and stock market prices, as well as rise in production costs,” added Bekteshi.
