On October 6, the automobile of the holder of the SDSM list of councillors for Novo Selo, Ile Iliev, was demolished, of which his personal belongings were taken away.
Iliev posted a video on his Facebook profile in which he asks: “Is the peaceful campaign you are talking about VMRO-DPMNE! Sad… Did you not think of my children when I would need to take them to kindergarten and school! The stress they will have to face! To your honour!”.
CIVIL contacted Zvonko Angelov, candidate for mayor of the Municipality of Novo Selo from SDSM, who told us that this had been the only incident during the campaign and that the MoI is working on clearing up the case.
Angelov added that the holder of the list of councillors had received threatening messages and referred us to Iliev for more information.
CIVIL tried to contact Iliev, but our attempts were unsuccessful until the publication of the text.
CIVIL also contacted Gjorgje Bozhinov, candidate for mayor of the Municipality of Novo Selo from VMRO-DPMNE, who denied and rejected the accusations that members/supporters of his party are behind the incident.
“We most strongly condemn the incident that took place and demand from the competent authorities to immediately clear up this unfortunate event and for the perpetrator to be brought to justice. Our campaign is not based on violence, pressure and blackmail”, says Bozhinov, VMRO-DPMNE candidate,
The video was downloaded from the Facebook profile of Ile Iliev, holder of the list of councillors of SDSM for Novo Selo in Strumica.
