NEWS OF THE DAY: SCPC: No criminal responsibility on the part of Angelovska, but regulations on preventing conflict of interest must be further regulated

At today’s session, the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption and Conflict of Interest reviewed the case of conflict of interest concerning Finance Minister Nina Angelovska, in relation to the bankruptcy case of Eurostandard Bank.

“The Minister had the possibility to find out information related to the bank in which she is a client, which was not available to other clients, depositors in the bank, hence this data and information could have influenced her decision making related to the deposit she had, therefore being in a position to have advantage over the other depositors in the bank”, stated Ivanovska. The SCPC comes to a conclusion that there is no criminal responsibility on the part of Minister Angelovska, but from an ethical perspective, it raises the issue at a high level and for this purpose it will recommend further regulation of the regulations, especially the Memorandum of cooperation between the National Bank and the Ministry of Finance, as well as other regulatory bodies by adding provisions.

These provisions should especially regulate the part that says that a certain office holder has the opportunity to dispose with information and to use it to their advantage or to provide advantage for themselves or for someone else.

Jovanovic: When people have no bread to eat, they choose nationalism

“Nationalism affects the poorest, it affects workers the most. The irony is that precisely those who are most affected by it are the same ones who support it most”, says Branimir Jovanovic in an interview within the framework of CIVIL’s Citizens Forum on the topic “Nationalism”.

“They are the first who vote for parties that place such programs during elections. We have seen this many times throughout history, everywhere around the world, not just in our country. However, we could see it here in these past elections, because, in my opinion, nationalism is the greatest winner”. “TikTok” fight for an interethnic and political settling of scores

While all eyes are on the forming of the new parliamentary majority and the forming of a new government between coalition partners SDSM and DUI, and while calls from the membership for resignation of VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski are becoming louder, interethnic intolerance, hate speech and calls for physical confrontation on the social media are again spreading and being incited after two days ago TV Sitel showed a short video from the social network “TikTok”, which shows at least three people beating a boy, suggesting that this happened in our country.

FLASH NEWS

Skopje Prosecutor’s Office filed an indictment with the Skopje Criminal Court for the case “Powerful”, which previously was handled by the former SPO, reports MIA. Charges have been filed against Antonio Milososki and 12 more persons in the “Powerful” case.

Even though the exact number of VMRO-DPMNE members who organized themselves in the Initiative Board for convening an extraordinary congress of the party and for Hristijan Mickoski to resign from the position President of VMRO-DPMNE is not known, nevertheless, they are not withdrawing from their demands for changes.

First verification of the mandates of the MPs, and then submitting the proposal for a new government, stated Zoran Zaev, President of SDSM and PM-designate, for ТV21.

The deadline for submitting the proposal for election of the new government is running. On the Parliament’s website there is no session scheduled for today. The deadline is September 2.

The union of high school students rescheduled the protest for August 31, through which they wish to express their dissatisfaction with the decision for implementation of entirely online teaching. The protest was initially scheduled for August 28, but was postponed due to the Orthodox observance of Feast of the Assumption of Mary, and its aignificance.

Ali Ahmeti, leader of DUI, yesterday confirmed that he has been called to testify before the prosecutors of the Hague-based Kosovo Specialist Prosecutor’s Office on September 2 and 3.
