The State Commission for Prevention of Corruption held Tuesday a session where it adopted an annual plan to inspect assets and interests, which will be implemented throughout 2021 in three quarters and will include mayors, judges and officials.
Objective criteria will be established, covering all judges, mayors and public officials for which the citizens have filed a complaint. A selection will follow before being made public, according to anti-corruption commission president Biljana Ivanovska.
“In the first quarter, 15 mayors and the mayor of the City of Skopje will undergo inspections ahead of the local elections. We’re not able to inspect everyone, so a selection will be made based on the assets at their disposal,” said Ivanovska.
The second quarter, she added, will involve judges, and government officials will be the target in the third quarter, which is the country’s obligation under GRECO recommendations.
Furthermore, the Commission at today’s 45th session adopted the annual program of work activities in 2021. To implement the program, it is necessary Parliament to adopt the national strategy for the fight against corruption as soon as possible, said Katica Nikolova, a member of the anti-corruption commission.
The program will be posted on the Commission’s website.
