European Commission spokesperson Maja Kocijancic, in a written statement explained that the decision of the Parliament to overwhelmingly adopt the Law on amnesty is an important step towards reconciliation of society and overcoming the painful polarization.
Amnesty
The Government does not interfere in the judiciary, but supports acts with which the reconciliation will be defined. There will be no amnesty for the organizers and for all those who participated or carried out violence on April 27, stated Government Spokesperson Mile Boshnjakovski at a press conference in the government.
Meeting
The Head of the Macedonian diplomacy, Nikola Dimitrov, at a meeting in Brussels with the permanent representatives of the European Union member states (CОRЕPЕR), said that Macedonia is good news at a time when Europe needs good news, and for us to recognise the opportunity and to make the progress.
Court
Today in the Criminal Court in Skopje, the trial for the case of the Special Public Prosecutor’s Office on electoral irregularities “Titanic” continued. Judge Shabani at the beginning of the hearing concluded that the lawyers of the accused Nikola Gruevski, who has fled in Hungary, had been notified that they are cancelling the power of attorney for his representation in the proceedings.
State Commission for Prevention of Corruption
The Committee on Elections and Appointment Issues at today’s session in Parliament removed the item off the agenda on the proposal for appointing new members of the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption, upon the request of MP Ivana Tufegic. A total of 39 candidates had applied for the competition for election of the SCPC that was announced in October.
MOI
From the Ministry of Interior, they have announced that a freight train travelling from Tabanovce to Skopje had hit a Volkswagen Vento vehicle this morning, in the ownership
of the MOI. The vehicle was operated by A.B, a police officer in the Police Station Gazi Baba, who died on the spot.
