The American Chamber of Commerce in North Macedonia and the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria signed a Memorandum of Cooperation which envisages targeted activities in the direction of enhancing the economic cooperation between the two countries through the real sector, reports MIA.

On behalf of their respective organizations, the document was signed by Jelena Arsovska, Executive Director of AmCham North Macedonia, and Petar T. Ivanov, CEO of AmCham Bulgaria. The Memorandum of Cooperation that was signed in Sofia stipulates that both organizations will invest knowledge, efforts, and energy to promote trade and investment cooperation between businesses will cooperate in organizing business round tables, analysis, and advocacy for improving the investment climate between both countries, reads the press release of AmCham North Macedonia.

Additionally, both American Chambers agreed that they will professionally support both governments in their business-related initiatives, policy introduction, as well as in achieving economic integration in the region.

“The idea is to bring an even greater economic perspective to both countries by mapping future business and investment opportunities and providing support in the realization of real business. By creating a business-friendly environment, we will provide support to both economies and strengthen our friendship through positive examples of cooperation in the real sector,” Arsovska said.

“This is not only a symbolic act of signing this Memorandum. It is a stamp of our will to work closely with our friends in the Republic of North Macedonia by utilizing our business acumen, ties, and wisdom to give our stake for bettering the economic perspective of both countries and the region,” her colleague from AmCham Bulgaria, Petar T. Ivanov, added.

Besides signing of the memorandum, during the visit to Sofia, Dragan Davitkov, President of the Board of Directors of AmCham North Macedonia, participated in a panel discussion “Business Opportunities with North Macedonia” organized by the Capital Executive Club, and supported by AmCham Bulgaria.

The focus of the economic part of the panel was to promote the investment and business potential of our country, as well as the importance of strengthening the economic relationship between the two countries, which is a top priority for the future development of EU-Western Balkans relations.

The cooperation between the two countries reflects many years of successful trade relations that position Bulgaria as the second largest destination for export/import to and from North Macedonia, the AmCham North Macedonia said in a press release.
