National electricity production in 2022 and the status of all energy capacities in the country were in the focus of Wednesday’s coordination meeting of Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) with energy companies Power Plants of North Macedonia (ESM), Electricity Transmission System Operator of North Macedonia (MEPSO), EVN Home, Elektrodistribucija, nominated electricity market operator MEMO, thermal power plant Negotino, Government and Economy Ministry representatives.
ERC president Marko Bislimovski said stability of the energy system is an imperative and all ongoing processes and steps undertaken by energy companies and institutions focus on secure and stable delivery of electricity in the country.
“The meeting tackled issues related to national electricity production after 1 January 2022 and the status of all energy capacities in the country. Regarding the price challenge, companies have still not delivered their requests to the ERC. In the coming period, companies will sum up their costs and the key lies in the price they’ll pay for the procurement of electricity deficits, for which MEPSO and Elektrodistribucija should announce public calls,” said Bislimovski.
He added that ERC would activate all mechanisms in their jurisdiction towards protecting the interest of consumers and liquidity of energy companies.
