The vaccine quantities will be sufficient for the population. The state will not save money for their procurement, says Prime Minister Zoran Zaev.
PM Zaev told Telma TV the advance payment for the 833,000 vaccines procured through the COVAX Facility was paid on Thursday, whereas the guarantee for the remaining funds to be paid upon the arrival of the vaccines has also been ensured.
“In addition, at least nine companies have the proper conditions to store the vaccines,” adds Zaev.
Besides the COVAX Facility, the country has applied for 800,000 vaccines from the pool of 100 million that the EU is providing to non-Union members. Furthermore, a certain quantity is also expected from Greece.
Regarding the vaccination process, health workers, elderly and chronically ill individuals will be given priority.
“For us it is important to have the vaccine as soon as it arrives in Europe,” underlines Zaev.
