The government at its Tuesday session accepted the Justice Ministry’s proposal to form an interdepartmental ad hoc body to respond to requests for forming associations and reduce the potential for abusing controversial historical figures’ names, transmits MIA.
This is a temporary solution until the new Law on Associations and Foundations is adopted, according to an official press release.
“Given that the Ministry of Justice does not keep a register of historical figures, there is a need for a transitional solution for the requests submitted by associations that have a historical figure in their name.
“The newly formed body will give opinions on the character of historical figures to avoid the abuse of certain persons who have a negative context throughout different historical eras,” the release adds.
