President and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Stevo Pendarovski, has issued an order to the Army Chief of Staff on undertaking measures to ready a contingent of troops and assistance that would shortly be headed to the Republic of Slovenia as support in managing the effects of the devastating floods that hit the country, informs news agency MIA.
In a phone call with Slovenian counterpart Nataša Pirc Musar earlier in the day, Pendarovski extended condolences for the lives lost and the damages from the floods, and voiced readiness for support, the President’s Office said in a press release.
Slovenia is North Macedonia’s great friend, a home of many fellow citizens, our ally in NATO, a country we have been cooperating with in many processes and initiatives, and one that we aim to have a common future with in the EU. The Macedonian society remembers the assistance that Slovenia provided in the management of natural disasters in the past and we are prepared to help, as requested by Slovenia, within our capacities, reads the press release.
