BOTA SOT: Forming an Association of Serb Municipalities, one of the recommendations of the “secret” meetings between Kosovo and Serbia
“The government of Kosovo should start with the formation of an Association of municipalities with a Serb majority”, is one of the recommendations from the so-called “non-paper” that resulted from the “secret” meetings between representatives of political parties of Kosovo and Serbia, held on January 11 and 12 in Solothurn, Switzerland, reports Kosovo newspaper BOTA SOT.
Some of the participants of this meeting said that the Association should be part of the comprehensive agreement.
“A model for elections in the north where the Serbs participate must be discussed and parties need to agree within three months. The EU and the United States need to be parties in resolving this dispute by pressuring Pristina and Belgrade to agree on the negotiating framework. They should move from the role of a facilitator to the role of a mediator. The framework should narrow the range of options for the parties. The proposal of the EU, known as the French – German proposal, seems to be doing just that”, is said among else, according to BOTA SOT.
