CIVIL – Center for Freedom, since the organization’s establishment in 1999, has been promoting peace and democracy in its vision and mission, a world in which people will live peacefully and in a dignified manner. In its foundations, the organization has incorporated the uncompromising efforts for a society where human rights and freedoms will be fully respected, where the cult of weapons and violence will be overcome, while discrimination, inequality, hatred, prejudice, nationalism will all be just a dark episode of the past.
On International Day of Peace, CIVIL calls on all citizens, its members, supporters, activists, volunteers, as well as civil society associations, political entities, to join all peace-loving people around the world in the celebration of International Day of Peace.
International Day of Peace this year reminds us how easily peace in the world can be disturbed and destroyed. The Russian aggression against Ukraine has also destabilized world peace through immense violence, denial of the right to existence on any grounds and with an obvious intention of exterminating the Ukrainian nation.
The military aggression against Ukraine, but also all military and other conflicts in the world, call for unification and defense of the right to a peaceful and dignified life in democratic and fair societies where division, hatred, violence, struggle for authority and power at the expense of human life and dignity will become the past.
With strong support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian nation, CIVIL calls for world unification in the efforts for putting an end to the Russian aggression and restoring peace and stability of Ukraine. May the many lost human lives be the last to testify to the horror and destruction that war brings.
CIVIL remains with the standpoint that peace, freedom and equality are values towards which the citizens of North Macedonia also aspire, as well as its democratic institutions. All of us together need to value and promote these values every day. By fostering multiculturalism as opposed to interethnic conflicts, by promoting the efforts of the European and green values, as opposed to nationalist narratives, disinformation and propaganda, together we will win the battle for a democratic and fair society.
