Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is arriving Tuesday evening in Belgrade on a two-day official visit to Serbia, according to MIA’s Belgrade correspondent citing a press release from Serbia’s presidential office.

President Erdoğan will meet with Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vučić on Wednesday at 11 am.

A plenary meeting of the two countries’ delegations will follow, which will include signing bilateral agreements and a press conference by Vučić and Erdoğan. The two presidents will also attend a Serbian-Turkish business forum later in the day.

According to Social Democratic Party of Serbia leader Rasim Ljajić, relations between the two countries have never been better, both politically and economically.

“Turkish companies are still interested in investing in the Serbian economy, and the existing ones employ thousands of workers. During this visit, the Novi Pazar – Tutin road will finally be put into use, which is the best example of the joint efforts and activities of the two countries,” Ljajić told Serbian news portal Alo.

According to Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu speaking during a recent visit to Belgrade, the region’s biggest challenges for his country were Bosnia and Herzegovina’s political crisis and the dialogue between Belgrade and Prishtina. Erdoğan is coming to Belgrade from Sarajevo.

Croatia is the next stop of his regional tour.
