North Macedonia is not getting natural gas from the pipeline passing through Ukraine, so there is no room for concern over gas shortages, said Government Spokesperson Muamet Hoxha on Wednesday, informs MIA.
The response came after reports that Russia has cut down on gas deliveries to Europe through the Ukraine pipeline.
“Let me stress that quantities required for our country have been secured by gas distribution companies. There is no room for concern,” Hoxha told a press conference.
On the Government decision to lift the ban for export of cooking oil, Spokesperson Dushko Arsovski said it would not disrupt the supply of this product at the domestic market.
“There is no shortage of cooking oil in North Macedonia. On the contrary, as manufacturers have said all along, quantities are sufficient. Irrespective of this, the Government has taken steps for further consolidation of the market. In a situation when we have sufficient quantities, there is no reason why we should not help countries that experience oil shortages. Therefore, the Government has lifted the export ban so that producers honor their contracts but also to support other countries, such as Albania,” said Arsovski.
