On February 20, Ukraine marks the Day of the Heavenly Hundred, commemorating the heroism of participants in the Revolution of Dignity and honoring the memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred.

The participants of the Revolution of Dignity, who were killed by the security officers and their mercenaries, received a name of the Heavenly Hundred. The official count of them is one hundred and seven. They were people of different nationalities, age groups, gender, education background, from various   regions of Ukraine and from abroad, successful entrepreneurs and poor pensioners, scientists, artists, students, and activists. The youngest one, Nazarii Voitovych, was sixteen. The oldest one, Ivan Nakonechnyi, was eighty-three.

The official Day of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes to be marked yearly on February 20th, was established by the Decree of the President of Ukraine on February 11th, 2014.  In the same year, Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine established the Order of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes to be awarded for civil courage, patriotism, upholding the principles of democracy, human rights and freedoms, as well as for the charitable work and public activity.
