The Government stands behind workers – the minimum wage will rise, says Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski.
PM Kovachevski says in a Facebook post that the open social dialogue with all stakeholders will lead towards the best solution in the workers’ interest.
“I expect a solution over a higher minimum wage on Monday. As promised, we will efficiently solve all issues in the people’s interest and deliver on promises. This is the principle and spirit for settlement of all issues leading to a higher living standard,” says Kovachevski.
Earlier in the day, the Federation of Trade Unions (SSM) said the Government should stand firmly behind the workers and put their proposal for a minimum wage in the amount of Mden 18,000 (EUR 292) and parallel rise of other salaries for a vote at tomorrow’s meeting of the Economic-Social Council and support it.
Last week’s meeting of the Economic-Social Council ended without an agreement after representatives of the employers put forward a proposal for Government subsidizing of the minimum wage increase.
