The President of the state Stevo Pendarovski received it today the President of Albania Ilir Meta, who is visiting the country, and at the meeting exchanged views on the overall bilateral relations between the two countries.

– Satisfaction was expressed from their positive development, through constructive cooperation and exchange of visits at the highest level. The Republic of Northern Macedonia and the Republic of Albania, it was concluded at the meeting, through the commitment to good neighborly relations, give a strong contribution to the prosperity, stability and security of the region, as well as to its European perspective. The two countries, as NATO allies, also contribute to the defense of the values ​​of the Euro-Atlantic community, said Pendarovski’s Cabinet.

In the context of the aspirations for membership in the European Union, the two presidents, as stated in the statement, noted the need to unblock the process and soon start the accession negotiations of the two countries for membership in the Union, which, according to them, will have a positive contribution to the overall progress and stability of the region.

President Pendarovski congratulated the Republic of Albania on its election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council in the period 2022-2023.
