In an interview with La Parisen, published last night, Macron stressed that unvaccinated people are irresponsible and that he plans to make their lives more difficult and eventually get vaccinated.
Today, the MPs were supposed to continue the debate on the new law, which will make the proof of vaccination against Covid-19 mandatory for entering restaurants, cinemas and traveling by train. But the session soon turned into a reaction to Macron’s statement.
The president must not say such things. “I support the confirmation of vaccination, but I can not support a text aimed at angering the French,” said Christian Jacob, the leader of the opposition Conservative Republican Party.
He asked Macron if his aim was to anger the French, saying that without a clear answer he could not continue the debate.
Other opposition lawmakers agreed, urging French Prime Minister Jean-Castex to appear in parliament. The session is scheduled to continue at 15 p.m.
