Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman today spoke by phone with the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias, emphasizing the importance of promoting solidarity and stability in Europe, state agency MIA reported.
The two also discussed the situation around Ukraine and the Western Balkans.
Spokesman Ned Price pointed out that both countries give unreserved support to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Sherman and Dendias also stressed the importance of continued co-ordination between NATO allies and partners, including preparation for unprecedented economic measures to deter Russia from further military action and aggression, the statement said.
According to the Greek Foreign Ministry, the two also discussed the situation in the Western Balkans, while Dendias briefed the Deputy Secretary of State on “recent provocative statements by Turkey”.
