The Presidents of France and Russia, Emanuel Macron and Vladimir Putin discussed the recent proposals of Moscow for relations with the West in Europe, as well as the situation in Mali, the Elysee Palace and the Kremlin said. writes TAS.
The French president, who recently canceled a visit to Mali due to the epidemiological situation, planned to talk to authorities in Bamako about the Russian mercenary group Wagner, which is considered close to the Kremlin.
French authorities believe some members of the group have begun deploying to Mali.
For its part, the Kremlin said Putin had briefed Macron on the work of “Russian diplomacy in strengthening the stability and security of the European continent.”
Moscow on Friday presented proposals for two agreements, which include Russia’s demands to reduce tensions, primarily over Ukraine, one for the United States and the other for NATO.
The United States and Europe have accused Moscow of deploying troops on the border with Ukraine and of the possibility of military intervention, which Russia has repeatedly denied.
