“Open Balkans” is an authentic, joint process of Northern Macedonia, Albania and Serbia, but the initiative is open to all countries in the region. Agreements for a single labor market in the region are of great importance to the citizens.

This was stated today in Tirana by Prime Minister Zoran Zaev in his address to the meeting of the “Open Balkans” initiative, which began this morning with a working meeting of the leaders of the initiative, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, hosted by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister Zaev. EU Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varjei also addressed the meeting.

– Since the first meeting in Skopje in July and the first signing of the agreements, we have shown that strong political will can be transformed into the rapid functioning of our institutions, which undoubtedly shows our capacity as countries to implement fast, efficient and advanced reforms. “We will show this capacity before the European institutions on the path of our European integration,” said Zaev.

Zaev announced that several multilateral and bilateral agreements will be signed at the meeting in Tirana in order to realize the basic rights for free movement of people, products and capital, as part of the planned benefits for greater regional cooperation and enhancing the connection between the Western Balkan countries. .

The Agreement on the conditions for free access to the labor market in the Western Balkans, the Interconnection Agreement on electronic identification schemes for the citizens of the Western Balkans, the Agreement between the Governments of the Republic of Albania, the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Northern Macedonia on cooperation in Tirana will be signed today. in the field of veterinary medicine, food safety and phytosanitary policy.

At this Open Balkans Summit, the bilateral agreements for recognition of the approvals for Authorized Economic Operator for Security and Safety between the Republic of Northern Macedonia and the Republic of Albania and between the Republic of Albania and the Republic of Serbia will be signed.

The delegation at the meeting in Tirana also includes Deputy Minister of Finance Dimitar Kovacevski and Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy Trajan Dimkovski.
