Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi said today that he remains of the opinion that the increase in electricity prices will be up to 10 percent.

– I stick to what I said and we will wait until the end of the month to see what the decision of the ERC will be. We have made all the analyzes, and not only me as Minister of Economy and other institutions were involved – energy companies such as ESM, EVN, MEPSO and according to our analysis I remain on the position I have said. There will be no increase of more than 10%, Bekteshi said in response to a journalist question at the press conference after the final conference “15 years we facilitate trade” on the occasion of the one-year presidency of the country with CEFTA.

He specified that he did not initially say 10 percent, but, he says, up to 10 percent, and that can be zero, and one and two, up to 9,99 percent.

Additionally, for the citizens, he clarified that new models have already started to be made in the part of determining the price of electricity with the model of block tariffs where, as the saying goes, we will encourage the citizens to save electricity.

-Those who are most vulnerable may have a reduction in electricity from June next year, and those who consume more than one megawatt and more than one megawatt, which is a lot, and they are probably very rich families who consume so much electricity , for them the price will increase further. “I say this for June, bearing in mind that twice a year we make decisions on determining the price of electricity,” said Bekteshi.

He pointed out that every six months Elektrodistribucija, EVN Home, ESM and MEPSO submit requests in the area of cost recovery and in the area of margins to the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) and in accordance with those requests the decision is made by ERC where it accepts the costs. justified.

-Of course, it is their right, they can not only ask for 100% increase of 2000%, but we will see how much it will be accepted in the next period. “I have already made a statement regarding the increase in the price of electricity for the first six months of 2022 and I stand completely behind what I said,” Bekteshi repeated.
