World Health Organization (WHO) in Northern Macedonia provided information technology equipment to the Ministry of Health in support of the digitalization of the immunization process and the improvement of the technical infrastructure of all vaccination points throughout the country, as part of the ongoing efforts to combat the KOVID-19 pandemic.

The purchase of the equipment was financially supported by Germany.

– The equipment we received today will be of great importance for accelerating the safe and effective vaccination of all vaccines, including vaccines against KOVID-19, as well as for improving access to life-saving data. Immunization against KOVID-19 remains critical to reducing the incidence of severe illness and death, including against the dominant Delta strain of the virus, said Health Minister Venko Filipce.

WHO Representative in Northern Macedonia, Dr. Jihan Tavila stressed that providing support to the Ministry of Health for building a resilient health system is one of the WHO priorities in Northern Macedonia.

-Delivery of critical technical equipment will increase the health system’s capacity for routine real-time health data collection and utilization of this information for effective response in the ongoing battle against this pandemic and any other vaccine-preventable disease. “We can only achieve that with our partners, and on this occasion I would like to thank Germany for its flexible contributions to the WHO, especially in the WHO European region,” Tavila added.

German Ambassador to Northern Macedonia Anke Holstein He said that he was very happy that Germany provided this financial contribution to the WHO for the digital improvement of the Macedonian healthcare system.

– This equipment will mean greater health security and will be beneficial for all citizens. “We can say with confidence that the fair and rapid distribution of vaccines will help in the fight not only against the KOVID-19 pandemic,” Holstein added.

The WHO in Northern Macedonia continuously supports the national health authorities in taking measures for health safety, especially during the current crisis with KOVID-19.

-WTO support is extremely important for: creating a network for gathering information and responding to emergencies by the public health system, which includes laboratories; preparation and implementation of a national vaccination plan against KOVID-19; creating evidence-based data to reinforce interventions; supply of equipment for vaccine management and cold chain maintenance, as well as continuous training for health workers and vaccinators; contribution to the overall routine efforts in the field of immunization at the national level, the WHO said in a statement.
