Jankulovska testifies about the safes in VMRO-DMPNE: Donors once gave money to Gruevski

Former Minister of Interior, Gordana Jankuloska today at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office testified at the hearing “Plots on Vodno”, ie the secret property of former Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, reports Focus, Sloboden Pecat informs.

Jankulovksa was questioned by the prosecutor Lile Stefanova about the way VMRO-DPMNE was financed, in order to prove the thesis of the prosecution that Gruevski provided the money for the plots in Vodno from the party treasury.

The former minister said she could only talk about the period when she was the party’s secretary general, from 2004 to 2006.

– The party in that period had serious difficulties in securing financial resources. Unlike the regulation that is today, to fund the parties from budget funds, then it was not so. At that time, it was financed through donations, ie it was given on a voluntary basis by individuals, said Jankuloska.

– The donors were quite restrained, because the party was in opposition, so they did not want it to be publicly known that they are close to VMRO-DPMNE. It happened that the donor talked to the president of the party, to express his will to donate, so the president agreed on the way and conditions how they can help the party, said Jankuloska.

She pointed out that it happened that the president (as Gruevski called him during the testimony) called him while he was meeting with one of the donors.

– Then they told me that he and he want to donate so much for the party. “Sometimes the donation was given the same day, or they would leave the president’s money if I was not there,” she added.

Prosecutor Stefanova asked her if when the money was given to Gruevski personally, did she know about the amount of the donated amount?

“I had a record of the amount that would have been given to me, whether it was agreed more or less, I do not know,” said the former minister.

-Yes, there were two safes in my office, one was big, massive, 1,5 meters and a small safe, like a cash register, and the money that was used on a daily basis was kept. The big safe was practically out of order because it was not open. I did not know the password, nor did I have a key, said Jankuloska.

She added that, in the old headquarters of the party, there were several safes in several offices, as well as one in the office of Nikola Gruevski.

According to the indictment, Gruevski, from 2006 to 2012, as president of VMRO-DPMNE, kept some of the party donations he received, personally or through municipal committees, for himself, thus collecting at least 1,3 million euros.
