Some CIVIL observers from Kumanovo talk about the general assessment of the election process in the Local Elections 2021, the course of the election day, as well as the observations in the post-election period.
According to the CIVIL observer from Kumanovo, Jasmina Todorovska, the elections went relatively peaceful without any major incidents and irregularities, except for the fight between two councilors.
The biggest problem was the fingerprint identification system, the election board were not prepared enough for the voting day. She adds that during the election campaign and on election day there was agitation by individuals, especially on social networks. Todorovska pointed out that very little was offered for Kumanovo, the mayoral candidates were more focused on high politics, than to deal with the real needs of the people of Kumanovo.
The CIVIL observer from Kumanovo, Deniz Memedi, says that the campaign and the voting went relatively peacefully and in a democratic atmosphere. He added that there were small irregularities during the voting, i.e. the Covid measures were not respected enough.
“For the first time in the history of Kumanovo, an independent candidate won against a party candidate, because here the citizens vote more for a party than for the individual, but this time it was not like that”.
The CIVIL observer from Kumanovo, Boshko Manev, says that it was relatively calm in Kumanovo and there were no problems, except with the fingerprint system.
“After the elections everything is peaceful, everyone is satisfied, they who one and who lost”, said Manev.
