Politics cannot interfere with history, nor change anything. In order to build friendship and good relations, a friendly environment needs to be built. If you want to build friendship and good relations, we need to act appropriately, stated tonight Prime Minister Zoran Zaev in regards to relations with Bulgaria.
Zaev on the TV 24 show 24 Analyses said that the monuments remain as a reminder of fascism, but, he said that it is dishonest to qualify an entire nation as fascist.
– It is an unpleasant feeling to be called a fascist occupier. In European textbooks, in the spirit of European manners, ethic or national coloration of fascism is avoided. My goal is in building all those relations, to pay attention to the manner in which we generalize things, all with the purpose of building friendship, said Zaev in speaking about the removal of the term “Bulgarian” in front of “fascist occupier” in history textbooks.
According to him, saying Bulgarian fascist occupier reflects on an entire nation, and that is bitterness for the Bulgarian people.
