CIVIL today is organizing a panel discussion on the topic: “European values - a realistic perspective or an unattainable goal?”, at the Park Residence Hotel (behind the city stadium) in Skopje, starting at 1 p.m.
European values are often equated with the political process related to EU integration. It is something completely different. European values are respect for law, non-discrimination, equality, respect for diversity…
How and where is the respect for European values manifested when it comes to creating and implementing policies and practices at local and national level? Do CSOs sufficiently understand and nurture European values in their environments and in interaction with their target groups? Is and how is the rule of law understood and nurtured as one of the basic European values? What is meant by the term European values? These are just some of the questions that CIVIL and the participants in the panel discussion will try to answer.
The panel will feature activists Tefik Mahmut and Samet Shabani, Horizon Civitas. The panel will be moderated by Dehran Muratov, CIVIL.
In accordance with Covid-19 protection protocols, the panel will be held without an audience, and we will enable panelists to attend physically and online. The event will last 60 minutes.
The event will be broadcast live on the video channel and the Facebook page of CIVIL, and the contents that will emerge from the event will be published on CIVIL MEDIA, the media platform of the organization, in Macedonian, Albanian and English. Television crews are welcome, requesting strict adherence to Covid-19 protection protocols.
The panel is part of the project “European Perspectives” which CIVIL is implementing with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany from April 1 this year.
