The coronavirus situation in the country is stable and there are no signs it will worsen. According to assessments, the epidemiological situation in coming summer months will be calm, said Health Minister Venko Filipche on Friday and urged citizens to be cautious and adhere to the measures.

“No one in the world can give an exact prediction. It can happen that a mutation of the virus could be more contagious from other variants and thus alter the epidemiological picture. This is happening in some countries. Vaccination helps eliminate severe forms of the disease and fatalities. Having this in mind and the situation in the region and beyond, we believe that the epidemiological situation in the next couple of months will be calm,” Minister Filipche told reporters.

He noted that citizens should continue to adhere to the measures in force so as to protect their health.

“Masks are always here, they should be used when in groups,” said Filipche.

He said public health institutions have gone back to their primary operations, with COVID-19 cases currently treated only at the Clinic for Infectious Diseases and hospitals’ units for infectious diseases.

Filipche said that despite the improvement of the epidemiological situation in the country, the indoor areas of bars and restaurants would not open for the time being.
