The Ministry of Education and Science’s “Study Smart, Work Skillfully” campaign aims to restore companies’ trust in trade schools and renew their mutual cooperation, according to Minister of Education and Science Mila Carovska in an interview for Sitel TV on Wednesday.

Until last year, Carovska said, only 11 dual enrollment classes were offered, and now there are 97.

“The companies involved in this process have taken on the duty to ensure students have some practical training with them,” she said.

“This way they become their potential future employers. Because when you work for the company, not only do you develop your professional skills but also you learn the culture and work dynamics. You get to know the employer, so it will be much easier for you to get a job in that company.”

Also, she pointed out, the Ministry of Education and Science has developed a new scholarship policy for high school students.

Beginning in the 2021-22 academic year, 2,000 students who enroll in dual classes or three-year vocational education will be given monthly scholarships of 3,500 denars per month for nine months.

Additionally, 200 first-year students who enroll in trade schools for in-demand professions, such as electricians, mechanics, hospitality workers, builders, farmers, veterinarians, and textile and leather workers, will receive scholarships of 2,200 denars per month for nine months.

“This is excellent motivation for students,” Carovska said, adding that they will be able to gain professional skills and earn some money at the same time.
