NATO is invaluable for our security, which is why the Alliance’s adaptation to new threats in a way that will strengthen political cohesion and demonstrate unity and solidarity is especially important for managing the challenges brought on by global security changes, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bujar Osmani said during a ministerial meeting within NATO’s North Atlantic Council on Tuesday afternoon, the Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
Discussions at the meeting, the press release read, focused on NATO’s 2030 agenda, that is, finalizing talks on solutions set to be adopted at the next Summit over the Alliance’s future adaptation to a new strategic surrounding, in order to send the message that the Alliance stands united amid growing challenges and geopolitical rivalry and stress that collective defence remains a top priority.
Minister Osmani also underlined in his address the need for increased cooperation between NATO and EU in making the Western Balkan region resistant to security threats and outside influences.
Tuesday’s ministerial meeting within the North Atlantic Council took place ahead of the NATO Summit, scheduled for June 14. North Macedonia will participate in the summit for the first time since becoming NATO member, the press release read.
