German Minister of State for Europe, Michael Roth, will arrive on Wednesday for a two-day visit to North Macedonia.
On the first day of the visit, Roth will meet with Deputy PM for European Affairs Nikola Dimitrov in Skopje.
Roth’s visit comes ahead of the meeting of the EU General Affairs Council in June, where he represents Germany, and in this context, talks with Dimitrov will focus on overcoming challenges, as well as prospects for adoption of North Macedonia’s negotiating framework in order to hold the first intergovernmental conference with the EU, the Secretariat for European Affairs said in a press release.
“Given Germany’s vocal and active engagement during and after the EU presidency, this visit is a continuation of the German efforts for a joint breakthrough on North Macedonia’s European path. Discussions will also tackle the future of the Berlin Process and the summit scheduled to be held in Berlin this year, as well as other topics and issues related to the European perspective of the country and the region,” reads the press release.
