Minister of Education and Science Mila Carovska met on Wednesday in Ankara with Mustafa Şentop, President of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
During the meeting they agreed that cooperation in education results in long-term friendship, mutual understanding and solidarity. Friendly countries, North Macedonia and Turkey, continually improve bilateral relations and mutual support and note excellent cooperation in education.
Minister Carovska, the Education Ministry said in a press release, underlined during the meeting that North Macedonia’s priority is ensuring that every child receives education. The Ministry of Education, she said, is creating conditions for nurturing the interests, needs and cultural characteristics of all ethnic communities in the country.
“We’re especially proud of the integration of the Turkish community in education. Several elementary and high schools are holding classes in Turkish, which is also being taught at universities. The multiethnic and multilingual environment teaches students how to live together. Interculturality is one of the key principles in the education reforms currently implemented in North Macedonia, while introduction of content which promotes the cultural characteristics of different ethnic and religious communities living in the country ensures productive coexistence,” the Minister noted, thanking Şentop for the selfless support of the Turkish people.
The President of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Mustafa Şentop, the press release read, stressed that Turkey continues to be an international partner that supports North Macedonia’s progress in all areas.
“North Macedonia and Turkey have formalized and ratified several protocols on cooperation in education and science. Şentop discussed Turkey’s contribution in activities of education institutions in North Macedonia, as well as support for Macedonian university students in Turkey, underlining the importance of education policies in creating workers capable of solving issues they are faced with in the future,” the Education Ministry said.
