Prime Minister Zoran Zaev held Friday a meeting with the Ambassador and Head of the EU Delegation, David Geer, where support was extended for the country’s development and integration processes with a focus on progress in reforms and the policies of dialogue aimed at the citizens’ interests and the state strategic goals.
An emphasis was put on activities conducted to fight crime and corruption, to strengthen rule of law, effective judiciary, media freedom and functional institutions, the government said in a press release.
It was jointly concluded that all political stakeholders should demonstrate rising awareness about a functioning Parliament in the interest of the needs of the citizens and in the efforts aimed implementing the European agenda, said the press release.
“We showed no one is untouchable when rule of law is involved and we will keep motivating all responsible institutions and bodies to operate to that end,” Zaev said adding the government is strongly committed to the fight against organized crime and corruption in cooperation with the international partners.
We, he noted, are committed to inclusive work with all political factors and social stakeholders.
“We take care of the health and livelihood of the citizens and companies. The number of foreign investments in the country is rising. Making all these efforts, we expect economic development to continue as well as implementation of European values at home and breakthrough in the EU integration process,” the PM said.
PM Zaev also extended gratitude to EU Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi for his efforts to secure financial aid and rollout of vaccines in the Western Balkan countries as part of the joint efforts made to tackle the consequences from the pandemic, said the press release.
