Minister of Foreign Affairs Bujar Osmani held on Monday a meeting with Ambassador Clemens Koja, Head of the OSCE Mission to Skopje, and discussed current political events in North Macedonia, implementation of reforms and the country’s European prospects.
Osmani, the Foreign Ministry said in a press release, underlined the expert support the Mission has offered North Macedonia in the process of implementing reforms aimed at harmonizing domestic legislation with European standards, especially in areas regarding rule of law, fight against organized crime and corruption, election reforms.
The top diplomat, the press release added, also briefed the Ambassador on activities North Macedonia has been taking in preparation for chairing OSCE in 2023. He stressed that the country remains committed to organization activities and will continue to contribute to realization of member states’ mutual efforts for strengthening multilateralism.
Ambassador Koja, the press release noted, praised cooperation between the OSCE Mission to Skopje and North Macedonia’s government, commending efforts and results in implementation of reforms aimed at harmonizing domestic legislation with European standards and stressing the need for undertaking continued and constructive activities.
Minister Osmani also met on Monday with UNDP Resident Representative Narine Sahakyan and thanked the UNDP Office in North Macedonia for activities and initiatives in several areas including: economy, social cohesion, gender equality, strengthening institutions, environment, climate change, the health crisis and efforts to manage the COVID-19 pandemic.
“They also discussed at the meeting the implementation of the new UNDP program (Country Programme Document-CPD) for cooperation with North Macedonia in the period 2021-2025, adopted by the Macedonian government in October 2020 and approved by the UNDP’s New York-based executive board in February 2021, aimed at promoting overall cooperation, ongoing activities, and implementation of projects,” said the Foreign Ministry.
