Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said on Friday he hoped that the laws related to anti-crisis measures stemming from the fifth COVID-19 relief package will be endorsed in the coming days and their implementation will begin next week.
The ruling majority and the opposition reached an agreement on Thursday to approve these laws.
“Parliament’s committees will discuss the laws and will adopt them soon. And the Parliament will approve the laws in the coming days. The laws relate to anti-crisis measures which stem from the fifth COVID-19 relief package. The stimulus package incorporates over 30 measures targeting vulnerable groups. Some of anti-crisis measures have been realized and rest of measures will start to be implemented as of next week,” Zaev told reporters during his visit to Delchevo.
The Parliamentary’s Committees and the Legislative Committee should pass the draft-law on financial support to coronavirus crisis-hit employers to pay February and March 2021 salaries, the draft-law on financial support to business owners affected by COVID-19 to pay February and March 2021 salaries and the draft-law amending the personal income tax law.
They are part of the fifth COVID-19 relief package, which contains 30 measures, worth 9.7 billion denars or about 160 million euros, of which 91.7 million euros have direct fiscal effect.
The projected financial support to employees to pay February and March 2021 salaries, amounts to 1.9 billion denars that will cover around 60,000 employees per month.
The financial support will be scalable, amounting from 14,500 denars to 21,776 denars per employee. Criteria to apply for this measure is the economic performance, i.e., revenue decline in November and December 2020 and January 2021, compared to the same months in 2019, i.e., 2020.
